“By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.” — Benjamin Franklin
Ben Franklin definitely knew what he was talking about. If we don’t prepare, we are bound to fail. This goes for everything, even this 90-day challenge.
What do I struggle the most?
I struggle the most with food. I love food, and I love to eat. I don’t need to be depressed or happy to eat, I just eat all the time if I could. However, that is not the best thing to do for my waistline. So, I must plan what I will eat each day and stick to it in order to not over eat.
How do I prepare?
I prepare by doing meal prep and planning out the food I am going to eat the night before.
What is meal prep? Meal prep is to bulk prepare your food ahead of time, so it takes the burden of cooking while hungry away. You can prepare entire meals ahead or bulk prepare the main ingredients. I tend to prepare entire meals if I know that I will be busy and I want to save time in assembling my meals. When my schedule is not so hectic then I will bulk prepare the ingredients and put together my meals right before I eat. This gives me some flexibility in what I eat, because I can create different meals using the key ingredients.
One of my favorite things to eat when I’m trying to lose weight is ground turkey. I love making turkey taco meat, and eat it with rice or making tacos with it. Turkey is high in protein and low in fat, so it’s a great option for meal prep. Here is how I do meal prep:
I also plan out what I will eat in MyFitnessPal the night before to eliminate decision fatigue. There are so many food choices, some good, and some are not so healthy. If I could take the unhealthy choices out of the lineup the night before, I am ALL FOR IT!
